116-year-old nun from Brazil recognized as the oldest person in the world.

The oldest woman in the world has died, her place taken by a nun from Brazil
After the death of 116-year-old Japanese woman Tomiko Itooka, the title of the oldest person in the world was awarded to the nun from Brazil Inah Canabarro Lucas. Her age, 116 years and 210 days, was confirmed by the Guinness World Records. She is also considered the oldest nun on the planet.
Inah Canabarro Lucas was born on June 8, 1908, in São Francisco de Assis (Brazil). She was so thin in childhood that there were doubts about how long she would live.
The Brazilian attended a boarding school and later moved to Uruguay, where at the age of 16 she became a nun.
After returning to Brazil, Inah worked as a teacher of Portuguese and mathematics in Rio de Janeiro. However, she did not stay in the capital and worked in various places throughout her career.
In 1980, the nun took a position in Porto Alegre (Brazil).
In 2018, when Inah turned 110 years old, she received apostolic blessing from Pope Francis.
Inah Canabarro Lucas is the second oldest nun in history after Lucile Rendon, who died at the age of 118. It is likely that Inah is the last living person born in 1908 and one of three born in the 1900s.
The previous titleholder of the oldest person in the world, Japanese Tomiko Itooka, gained fame for her long hikes. In her lifetime, Tomiko summited Japan's second-largest volcano, Mount Ontake, which is over 300 meters high, twice.
Officially, the oldest man in the world is recognized as British John Tinniswood.
