Bloomberg: Russia has no strategy to support Assad due to the retreat of the Syrian army.

Syrian rebels have managed to take the city of Hama, and now they are approaching Homs. President Bashar Assad is seeking help from Russia and Iran to gain military support.
As conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine are quite large, Tehran and Moscow have limited resources. Currently, Assad receives only airstrikes from Russia and promises from Iran.
The capture of Homs by the rebels could block the route between Assad's government and the Alawite regions, where the Russian naval base is located.
President Vladimir Putin is taking a cautious stance, and the Russian embassy in Damascus is preparing for the evacuation of the country's citizens.
The Iranian Foreign Minister is ready to support Assad, but previously he only promised to consider requests for military assistance.
The rebels are led by the organization 'Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham', which the USA and other countries recognize as terrorist. Their leader has called on Baghdad not to interfere in the Syrian conflict.
