Man who opened fire and injured two people in Cherkasy detained.


In Cherkasy, as a result of a conflict, a shooting occurred, resulting in two people being injured. The police have launched an investigation into this incident. This is reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Cherkasy region.
According to the police, the incident happened on January 25 around 9:00 PM near the park on Peremohy Avenue in Cherkasy. Witnesses reported the shooting to the police and provided a description of the perpetrator. The criminal was detained by the police shortly after.
According to the police, the conflict arose between the detained man and a couple waiting for public transport. The 53-year-old man decided to resolve the conflict by using a weapon. He shot at a 23-year-old man and struck a 35-year-old woman in the head with the gun. Both victims were taken to the emergency hospital.
«The perpetrator was arrested in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention facility. District detectives of the Cherkasy district police have initiated criminal proceedings under Article 296 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, according to the order of the Cherkasy District Prosecutor's Office, the issue of notifying the suspect of his detention and selecting a preventive measure is being resolved,» the statement said.
Currently, a preliminary investigation is underway, and the perpetrator faces imprisonment of three to seven years.
Recall that in Kyiv, patrol police detained a man who possibly committed a shooting at a car service station. Automatic weapons were found in the detained man's vehicle.
