Diplomas do not save: what work is being offered to Ukrainian refugees in the Czech Republic.


According to the online publication Czech Radio iRozhlas.cz, Ukrainian displaced persons in the Czech Republic often work in low-skilled jobs due to the large number of migrants from Ukraine who have arrived in the country after events in Eastern Ukraine. Research from Charles University shows that the Czech economic model largely relies on the use of cheap foreign labor, but this may create problems for both Ukrainian migrants and Czech society as a whole.

There is a risk of Ukrainian workers being exploited by intermediary structures that promise assistance but actually use them as cheap labor. Ukrainians in the Czech Republic are forced to work in low-skilled positions for various reasons, which can have negative consequences for all parties.
