On Constitution Day of Ukraine, June 28, 2025, former people's deputy Taras Stetsky shared interesting facts about the adoption of the Constitution in 1996. According to him, the deputies really did distribute cognac during discussions and amendments to articles, as the process was very difficult.

“Between us, - he replied, - yes, they poured. Because you can lose your mind if you sit like that for so long. Imagine: over 150 articles of the Constitution and sometimes up to 80 amendments and proposals for each article. A person involuntarily starts to doze off and think: 'to hell with it all...'. Yes, we went to the smoking room, wandered in the corridors, went to the cafeteria, sat in the cafeteria, took coffee, some (but not all!) - with cognac. Well, it was not without that...”

Stetsky also mentioned that jokes were a popular way to entertain among deputies during difficult discussions. Comedian Les Podervyansky also did not deny himself the pleasure of humorous stories.

Taras Stetsky talked about how difficult the process of adopting the Constitution in 1996 was, noting that even deputies decided to celebrate a small holiday during discussions. The importance and significance of this document for Ukraine is emphasized by its role in the establishment of statehood and legality in the country.
