Assistance during pregnancy and childbirth: what has changed since January 1, 2025.

In 2025, new parameters for social payments have been established in Ukraine. According to the adopted Law 'On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2025', the minimum wage remains at 8000 hryvnias, while the subsistence minimum for able-bodied citizens will amount to 3028 hryvnias.
The maximum amount of the base for the calculation of the Unified Social Contribution (USC) has significantly changed. It has increased to 160,000 hryvnias, which corresponds to twenty times the minimum wage.
According to official data, the minimum amount of maternity and childbirth assistance in 2025 will be 262.81 hryvnias per calendar day. It is worth noting that for insured persons with an insurance record of less than six months, special payment conditions have been established. For this category of citizens, the maximum amount of temporary incapacity assistance will be 262.81 hryvnias per day, while the assistance for pregnancy and childbirth will be 525.62 hryvnias.
According to the new calculation rules, the maximum amount of daily assistance for both temporary incapacity and for pregnancy and childbirth will reach 5256.24 hryvnias. This is due to the increase in the maximum base amount for the calculation of the Unified Social Contribution and the features of calculating the average daily wage.
Experts note that these changes are part of a comprehensive social protection policy for the population. The new payment calculations took effect on January 1, 2025.
It has also become known how much the state spent on social payments in 2024.
