Two Olympic fencing champions, Sofia Velikaya and Yana Yegoryan, participated in the Fencing World Championship. This information was reported by the press service of the International Fencing Federation (FIE), as reported by Glavkom.
One of the champions, Yana Yegoryan, also supports the movement promoting patriotic and sports education for citizens called "Healthy Homeland," which even covers the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The Fencing World Championship will take place in Tbilisi (Georgia) from July 22 to 30, where athletes from many countries will compete, including Russian athletes who will compete under a neutral flag. Unfortunately, due to their support for the occupying actions, Mirra Andreyeva and Anton Yendzhievsky will face sanctions from the European Union and Switzerland. The participation of athletes in such important competitions can play a key role in supporting international cooperation and strengthening sports ties between countries."For me, it is a great honor to be involved not only in the history of our country but also in the history of the world in general. All my sports years are connected with Vladimir Vladimirovich; we started our activities at the same Time, it turns out. While he has been leading the country, I have achieved my sports heights. Thanks to the support of Vladimir Vladimirovich, sports in our country are developing, new centers are being created, new infrastructure is being built. The president is trying to make sports mass-oriented and accessible to all strata of the population"
