Moroccan Tennis Player Banned for Cocaine Use
The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has announced the temporary suspension of 23-year-old Moroccan tennis player Imran Sibil. In March this year, he tested positive for cocaine and its metabolites during a tournament in Spain. The athlete did not appeal the ITIA's decision.
Sibil ranked 1433rd in his tennis career. This case is not isolated, another athlete - Russian defender of the NHL's 'Washington' club Alexander Alexeyev - was detained during a fight and charged with being drunk in public in the US capital.
«At 03:26 AM on May 17, police officers were stopped by a witness who reported a fight outside the venue. The officers saw the suspect participating in a fight with another man. When the officers got closer, the suspect hit the other man, and one of the police officers used pepper spray during the arrest. The suspect received medical assistance at the scene due to the effects of the pepper spray,» – quotes Arlington County Police representative Kai Daniel in ARLnow.
