Ukraine has submitted a request to the UN Security Council following the latest shelling by Russia. This was reported by Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN, Andriy Melnyk.

'I have signed a letter to the President of the UN Security Council requesting that a meeting of the Council be convened as soon as possible due to the escalation of Russia's rocket terror against the peaceful residents of Ukraine,' Melnyk stated.

The Permanent Representative emphasized that the new massive attack by the Russian Federation yesterday took the lives of many Kyiv residents, over a hundred people were injured, and residential buildings were once again destroyed. 'We are dealing not only with war crimes against civilians committed by the Moscow regime every day and night. These are crimes against humanity that require not only response but also action. The international community, particularly the UN Security Council, must act decisively,' Melnyk stressed.

Meeting with the President of the Security Council

The diplomat noted that tomorrow he will meet with the President of the Security Council, the Ambassador of Guyana to the UN, Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, to discuss further steps according to the UN Charter. 'I hope that the members of the Security Council will provide a firm response to Russia's criminal actions. It is Time to end the Kremlin's impunity,' he added.

Ukraine has addressed the UN Security Council following shelling by Russia, which resulted in the deaths of Kyiv residents and damage to residential buildings. Andriy Melnyk called on the international community to act decisively and end the Kremlin's impunity.
