The European Commission has published a report on potential candidates for accession to the European Union. The document contains information about Ukraine, particularly about the situation in the transport sector.
According to the report, the state of railway transport reform in Ukraine remains unsatisfactory due to incomplete legislation and the absence of an independent regulator. The European Commission noted that a new Railway Transport Law needs to be adopted to create conditions for a competitive market for passenger and freight transport.
"A new Railway Transport Law needs to be adopted to create legislative conditions for the functioning of a competitive passenger and freight transport market, which will allow for the implementation of the future railway law," the report states.
Recall that passenger trains from Uzhhorod will be able to run on the Eurotrack to five EU cities.
