France declared three attempted attacks during the Olympics.


French law enforcement prevented three attempted attacks in Paris and other cities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This was reported by the AP.
According to the head of the French National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor's Office, Olivier Christen, the criminals, among other things, planned an attack on “Israeli institutions or representatives of Israel in Paris” during the Olympics. He clarified that the Israeli team of athletes was “not a specific target” of these potential attacks but did not provide further details.
In total, five people were arrested on suspicion of being involved in three attempted attacks during the Games in France, among them a minor. They face various terrorism-related charges and remain in custody, added Christen.
The prosecutor noted that the detained criminals were predominantly motivated by jihadist motives.
Recall, on the evening of August 11, in Paris, the capital of France, the closing ceremony of the XXXIII Summer Olympics took place. Ukraine was represented at the 2024 Olympics by 140 athletes who competed in 23 sports. The Ukrainian team won 12 medals (3 gold, 5 silver, 4 bronze) and took 22nd place in the medal tally, showing the best result in the last 12 years.
By the way, during the 11 competitive days in the capital of France, our Paralympians won 82 medals: 22 gold, 28 silver, and 32 bronze. This allowed the Ukrainian team to take seventh place in the medal tally and become fifth in the number of awards received.
