Armed clashes near the gas station "Sudja", which is important for the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine to the EU, are causing concerns about a possible cessation of gas supply until the agreement with "Gazprom" expires.
"There is a risk that "Gazprom" may use the clashes as a reason to stop gas supply," said James Waddell, head of the European gas and LNG directions at Energy Aspects.
However, "Gazprom" stated that it will continue to transport gas through Ukraine, and the operator of the Ukrainian gas transmission system reported that operations are continuing as usual.
In addition, Russia may incur losses of approximately $4.5 billion annually if gas exports are stopped.
