ISW learned how South Korea may respond to the deployment of DPRK troops in Ukraine.


South Korea may strengthen its support for Ukraine due to the presence of North Korean troops in Russia. This is reported by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Analysts point to the possible readiness of South Korea to enhance support for Ukraine amid intelligence signals about the deployment of North Korean troops near the border with Ukraine.
All possible scenarios are considered
In this regard, the head of the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cho Tae-yong, stated that "all possible scenarios" are being considered regarding the dispatch of weapons to Ukraine after the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia.
He also emphasized that the country will monitor the involvement of North Korean troops in the Russian Federation and their benefits from Russia to determine its strategy of action.
Earlier, the Main Directorate of Military Intelligence of Ukraine reported that Russian troops transferred 7,000 North Korean military personnel to unknown areas near the border with Ukraine.
According to intelligence data, the Russians armed the Koreans with various types of weapons and equipment, including mortars, assault rifles, machine guns, sniper rifles, anti-tank missiles, and grenade launchers. Additionally, North Korean troops were equipped with night vision devices and thermal imagers.
