We simply will not live long enough: expert Popenko responded to the scandalous statement of the minister about pensioners.
The Ministry of Social Policy notes that citizens of Ukraine who have reached the age of 65 should work and not go on pension. This was stated by expert Olen Popenko, referring to the statement of the head of the department, Oksana Zholnovich.
The expert expressed doubts about such a position of the ministry, considering the demographic situation in the country.
'The head of the Ministry of Social Policy stated that a 65-year-old person in Ukraine is someone with a desire to work, who wants to work rather than sit on a pension. Meanwhile, the average age of men in Ukraine is only 56 years. We simply do not live to this pension,' he noted.
This statement of the ministry comes in the context of a reduction in social payments, particularly subsidies, for the year 2025.
The expert believes that these statements and actions of the government may be preparation for an increase in the retirement age, despite the low life expectancy of Ukrainians.
