In Donetsk, occupiers shot a captured defender.

Russian servicemen killed an unarmed Ukrainian soldier who was taken prisoner in the Volnovakha district of Donetsk. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

According to the report, on April 11, 2025, three Ukrainian soldiers were carrying out a combat mission near the village of Rozdolne in the Volnovakha district. During the assault, they were captured by Russian forces. One of the prisoners, who was unarmed, was shot by Russian soldiers.

Law enforcement is investigating this case as a violation of the laws and customs of war with deadly consequences.

A corresponding statement has been issued, indicating that investigative and search activities are underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime and the individuals involved among the Russian military.

The murder of a prisoner is a serious violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a grave international crime.

We remind you that earlier, Russian soldiers executed four captured Ukrainian soldiers near Pyatykhatky in the Zaporizhzhia region, shooting them from behind as they exited a ruined building.

This is not the first case of Russian soldiers violating the rules and customs of war. Previously, they also shot five captured Ukrainian soldiers near Neskuchne. Reports also indicated the killing of five captured Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen near Vuhledar in Donetsk. The incident occurred on October 2. Occupiers took five unarmed Ukrainian servicemen prisoner. One of the prisoners was killed by Russians in a forest belt, and four were shot under the aim of automatic weapons on the road.
