One of the US decisions may become a disaster for Canada's ecology.

Donald Trump's policy, which aims to reduce the number of officials in the US, will negatively affect Canada's nature and people's health. This concerns the ecological situation and water quality in Canada, including the Great Lakes. According to the new directive, the US Department of Management and Budget has cut the number of employees at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, who, together with Canadian scientists, are responsible for the state of water in the lakes.
According to Mike MacKay, director of the Great Lakes Environmental Research Institute, Canadian and American organizations are working together to study the Great Lakes. However, the new decision of the Trump administration will lead to negative consequences, such as a decrease in algal bloom research and the spread of sea lampreys. The blue-green algae that appear in the lakes can be toxic to people and animals that come into contact with the water.
Mike MacKay is outraged by Trump's new policy and emphasizes the necessity of continuing joint work on the Great Lakes without hindrance. He believes that this decision could have catastrophic consequences and questions the Trump administration's willingness to cooperate with Canada.
Let us remind you that Canadians continue their opposition to the US in trade wars, proposing to block Americans' access to popular porn sites.
Additionally, Alaska Senator Dan Sullivan responded to the statements of the British Columbia provincial government regarding the introduction of tolls for trucks from Washington. He promised to sue to prohibit US cruise ships from entering the province's ports.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the upcoming G7 summit. This indicates Canada's readiness to cooperate with other countries.
