Los Angeles has selected venues for the 2028 Olympic Games

The organizers of the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles have identified all the locations where competitions will take place during the Games. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing ESPN.

Among the selected venues for the Olympic competitions are the home arena of the NBA club 'Los Angeles Lakers', the territory of the Hollywood film company Universal Studios, Peacock Theater - one of the largest indoor stages in the USA, other sports arenas, and famous places in Los Angeles.

At the 2028 Olympics, the number of female athletes will for the first Time in history be greater than the number of male athletes. Additionally, the updated program will introduce six new mixed disciplines.

The total quota for athletes in Los Angeles will be the same as at the Paris 2024 Olympics – 10,500 people. However, 5,333 spots will be allocated for women and 5,167 for men. This will be the first time in history that there will be more women than men at the Olympic Games.

The IOC has also reduced the number of men's football teams at the 2028 Olympics in favor of women's teams. The women's football tournament will feature 16 teams, while the men's will have only 12.

Moreover, in women's water polo, the number of teams will increase from 10 to 12, matching the number of men's teams. In boxing, an additional women's weight category will be added – now there will be 7 disciplines in both men's and women's tournaments.

Among other significant changes is the increase in the number of teams from 18 to 24 in 3x3 basketball; individual medals will be contested for the first time in three disciplines of sport climbing.

There will also be three types of competitions in coastal rowing. In particular, the Olympic program will include distances of 50 meters in breaststroke, butterfly, and backstroke.

The updated program of the 2028 Olympic Games will feature six new mixed disciplines: archery, artistic gymnastics, athletics (mixed 4x100m relay), rowing (mixed doubles), golf, and table tennis.

The Summer Olympic Games will take place in Los Angeles from July 14 to July 30, 2028. The number of medals that will be contested in the USA will amount to 351, which is 22 more than in Paris 2024.

Los Angeles has already selected all the venues for the 2028 Olympic Games. At these Games, the number of female athletes will exceed the number of male athletes, which is a unique situation. Furthermore, there will be six new mixed disciplines. Women will be allocated more spots than men, making it the first time in history that there will be more women at the Olympic Games. The number of teams in women's football, water polo, and boxing will also increase. Overall, these changes in the Olympic Games program make it more diverse and equitable.
