Preferential pensions for military personnel: how service time is calculated and what additional payments are provided.

According to the latest information, Ukrainians who participated in combat operations are given the opportunity to retire earlier than the usual term. Their service Time is accounted for under a special scheme, according to which one month of service is counted as three months of regular service time.
During the time of martial law or combat zones, this service time is also included in the total service time.
Thus, the formula for calculating the service time of combatants is as follows:
- 1 month of service in the combat zone is counted as 3 months of service time.
- To receive these benefits, it is necessary to be in the combat zone for at least one month.
Having this service time, combatants can retire according to the following criteria:
- Men can retire at the age of 55 with at least 25 years of service.
- Women have the opportunity to retire at the age of 50 with at least 20 years of service.
The pension amount depends on the total service time and official salary. Combatants receive additional payments, such as:
- 25% of the subsistence minimum for disabled persons (590.25 UAH);
- monthly assistance of 40 UAH;
- targeted assistance if the total pension amount is less than 4958 UAH.
The minimum pension amount for combatants in Ukraine should be at least 210% of the subsistence minimum, which is 4958.1 UAH.
It has been previously reported that pensions for retirees will be indexed, but it is still unknown whether there will be enough funds for this purpose.
