Russians are storming a key settlement in Zaporizhzhia - Defense Forces.

The Russian army has been trying for several days to capture the settlement of Kamianske in the Zaporizhzhia region, which is of strategic importance due to its location on a commanding height. Spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, Vladyslav Voloshyn, reported that the enemy is trying to break through Ukrainian defenses and reach the right bank of the Yanchekrak River. According to the spokesman, all enemy attempts have been unsuccessful. The Russians have not been able to push the Defense Forces from the left bank of the Yanchekrak River, and no positions have been lost.

'For several days in a row, the enemy has been trying specifically in this direction to capture this settlement, break our defenses, and reach the right bank of the Yanchekrak River,' Voloshyn stated during a telethon.

'I want to assure you that the Defense Forces of Ukraine have not suffered any losses in this settlement. We are holding this settlement and successfully repelling enemy attacks,' Voloshyn emphasized.

The spokesman explained why the Russian occupiers are so persistently trying to capture Kamianske. The settlement is located on the Simferopol-Kharkiv highway and is situated on a commanding height, making it an important foothold.

'By capturing this settlement, the enemy can deliver fire strikes from long-range artillery systems on Stepnohirsk and can reach the southern outskirts of Zaporizhzhia,' Voloshyn noted.

If Kamianske is captured, the enemy would have the opportunity to shell Stepnohirsk with long-range artillery and even reach the southern outskirts of the regional center Zaporizhzhia.
