Ukraine is experiencing a shortage of automotive and light armored vehicles, which the Russian Federation is trying to address.
Expert Valery Ryabykh said that photos of Russian soldiers against the background of Chinese BTRs ZFB-05 have appeared on social media.
It should be said that we can see here a sample that, in principle, can still be improved, covered with anti-cumulative grids. And you can also see a turret with a DShK machine gun. This is most likely an upgrade by those who use this vehicle, - said Ryabykh.
According to the expert, Chinese BTRs “surfaced” among Russian occupiers as early as June 2023.
To talk about direct deliveries from China, we cannot yet, because even regarding this vehicle ZFB-05, it is supplied by China to about 20 countries. Therefore, individual specimens could appear among Russian terrorists by some roundabout ways. And in principle, now Russian propaganda can use this to create the impression that China is helping us. In reality, we do not see the mass use of these vehicles yet, - reported Ryabykh.
According to the expert, Russians have to use tricks to acquire specialized dual-use equipment.
But in general, it should be said that in any case, the appearance of such specimens, even single ones, like the same Chinese golf carts, all this indicates that the Russian Federation in its aggression against Ukraine is now experiencing a shortage of automotive and light armored vehicles and is trying to replace them by any means. To talk about official supplies from China, we also cannot yet, - stressed Ryabykh.
