Not far from Zaragoza in Spain lies a small village that impresses with its atmosphere no less than popular tourist spots.

The village of Belchite is what this is about. A place that looks untouched by Time. The ruins of the old town remained after brutal battles during the Civil War in the 1930s. The History of Belchite

The village was founded back in 75 AD, but during the Civil War, it was left in ruins and became a real open-air museum showcasing the history of tragedy.

During the war, houses, churches were destroyed, and many residents perished. Today, parts of the village have been restored since then, and the population is around 1600, leaving part of the town in the state it was in after the war.

Belchite has an ancient history. In 1122, the Brotherhood of Belchite was founded here to defend the border between kingdoms and Muslim lands. Over the centuries, the village was built up with medieval churches and monuments. Today, tourists can visit Belchite and learn about its history on tours available both day and night for a fee.
