On October 3, Ukrainian forces launched a missile strike on an area near temporarily occupied Donetsk. A Ukrainian intelligence unit reported that among the 20 soldiers killed were six officers from North Korea, and three other North Korean servicemen were injured.
According to Kyiv Post, DPRK representatives arrived in the occupied territory to negotiate with Russian military forces. Russian propaganda Telegram channels claim that before the missile strike, Russians were showing North Korean representatives the preparation of personnel for assaults and defense.
North Korea's involvement in the conflict
In February, investigators documented over 20 instances of North Korean weapons being used by Russian forces against Ukraine. These attacks resulted in at least 24 deaths and injuries to over a hundred civilians. Additionally, according to Ukrainian intelligence, North Korea has already delivered over 1.5 million artillery shells produced in the 1970s and 1980s to Russia.
In June, Russia and North Korea signed an agreement on comprehensive strategic partnership, which includes mutual military assistance in case of aggression against Pyongyang or Moscow.
