"The situation is critical": The UN declared a lack of funds to help Ukrainians this winter.

Ukraine did not receive enough funding to provide aid during the winter period due to Russian bombings that destroyed nearly half of the country's power grids. This was reported by the UNHCR representative in Ukraine, Karolina Lindholm Billing.
Due to the destruction of the country's infrastructure during the bombings by Russia, Ukraine is preparing for a challenging winter season. The UNHCR stated that it needs support from the authorities, as there are about 3.6 million internally displaced persons in the country.
UNHCR facilitates the placement of displaced persons and provides assistance to the most vulnerable segments of the population in preparation for winter. About 650,000 people receive aid in the form of warm clothing and kits for better home insulation.
The organization warns that without urgent assistance to restore the power grids, there could be a new wave of refugees to the EU this winter. Ukraine needs support to restore its energy infrastructure and create decentralized energy sources.
