The Special Representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe on children's issues in Ukraine, Thordis Kolbrun Reykfjord Hilfadottir, named her priorities in her work and noted that she will seek practical solutions for the protection of the rights of all Ukrainian children.
She participated for the first Time in the meeting of the parliamentary network on the status of children in Ukraine, which took place during the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.
'My priorities will concern several areas - children of Ukraine who currently move in the member countries of the Council of Europe, children who remain in Ukraine, and their needs. Especially, children who have been illegally deported or abducted. This part of the Russian aggression has the greatest international response. This is what I want to focus on,' the representative reported.
She emphasized that great attention should be paid to overcoming trauma and providing psychological support to children, as this is necessary for the true recovery of the country.
It is extremely important to ensure the rehabilitation and reintegration of children if they return to Ukraine. It is necessary to have social workers, psychological support, and the necessary infrastructure for their return to normal life,' she emphasized.
