A large-scale campaign aimed at increasing birth rates has started in China.

Campaign to Stimulate Birth Rates in China
A proactive campaign aimed at stimulating birth rates is ongoing in China. The government is implementing various measures to encourage single people to marry and motivate families to have more children. This initiative is being carried out at both the local and national government levels.
According to reports, local authorities are approaching couples with questions about their plans for having a child. Some women are offered medical examinations following such inquiries. Families with one or more children receive special assistance to increase the number of births.
Additionally, Chinese universities are required to include 'courses on marriage and love' in their programs for single students, journalists report.
Demographic Crisis in China
At the beginning of December, it became known that China is facing a possible demographic crisis by 2035. Experts warn about a shortage of young people and a rising percentage of the elderly population in the city of Fushun. Last year's data indicated that China's population was 1.4 billion, excluding Macau, Hong Kong, and other overseas territories. In 2019, only 14.65 million children were born in China, the lowest level since 1961.
Moreover, the Chinese authorities plan to conduct a selective survey of the population to uncover current demographic changes in society. This will relate to age, ethnic background, education level, and migration status of citizens.
