Information obtained from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine indicates that the Russian ship 'Alexander Otrakovsky' near the shores of Syria is facing problems - its fuel tanks are leaking.

"The aggressor state Russia continues to transfer weapons and military equipment from Syria to Libya using aviation. All military vehicles that are inoperable and need repair have been ordered to be burned by Russian soldiers," the report states.

The Main Intelligence Directorate also reminded that the Russians are facing issues with the evacuation of military property by sea due to the lack of permission to enter the port of Tartus.

On January 9, 2025, Russian rear admiral Valery Varfolomeev was denied negotiations regarding this issue.

As a result, the Russian ships 'Ivan Gren', 'Alexander Otrakovsky', and the cargo ship Sparta are currently at the outer raid of the port of Tartus.

"The 'Otrakovsky' has faced problems with the freshwater maker and has begun to leak the second and third fuel tanks," the intelligence reported.

It is known that on December 15, 2025, two Russian tankers - 'Volgoneft-212' and 'Volgoneft-239' sank in the Kerch Strait due to a storm. Thus, 8.6 thousand tons of fuel oil entered the sea. The threat of pollution to the coasts of Odesa and Mykolaiv regions remains serious.

Ecologist Vladislav Balinsky reported that due to this accident, the fuel oil may reach the shores of Odesa in the coming weeks, and in some cases even days.

It has also been revealed that the pollution cannot be removed until it reaches the land.
