Ukraine will receive 700 million euros for the purchase of demining equipment
Ukraine's partners will allocate 700 million euros for the purchase of demining equipment. This was announced during a meeting of the Demining Coalition, which took place in Vilnius under the chairmanship of Lithuania and Iceland. Officials from 15 countries participated in this event.
'In the last quarter of last year, the purchase of material and technical resources amounted to 16.1 million euros. The budget for 2025 is planned to be at the level of 130 million euros. As of February, the Central Project Management Agency (CPMA, Republic of Lithuania) has already accumulated 51 million euros,' said Ruslan Berehulia, head of the Main Department of Demining Activities, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety.
The participants of the Coalition also expressed interest in the experience of the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other components of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine, which has been gained over three years of war. They plan to create working groups to study new methods of maintenance and servicing of engineering obstacles, as well as the use of drones and artificial intelligence in demining activities.
The leaders of the Coalition were handed the 'Roadmap of the Demining Capability Coalition until 2035'.
During the meeting, Major General Dmytro Hereha, Commander of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, spoke about the military-strategic situation and current challenges regarding demining. He also discussed the use of engineering equipment and machinery provided to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The priorities for the procurement of armaments and machinery within the coalition for 2025 were also discussed.
