On April 20, 2025, the President of Ukraine addressed Ukrainians on the occasion of Easter, emphasizing the importance of unity and faith of the nation after a prolonged war. The head of state compared Ukraine's path to the resurrection of Christ and called for not losing hope for a future peace.In his address, the President noted:
'Today is a very special day, one we always look forward to, celebrated by millions of people. Easter. A day that is a ray of light – especially bright and strong in times when dark clouds seek to cover our sky.'The President particularly emphasized that this year Ukrainians of all faiths celebrate Easter together, symbolizing national unity in the face of aggression. He also recalled tragic events, such as shelling on Palm Sunday and strikes on a children's playground in Kryvyi Rih.In his address, the President highlighted:
'Evil has its hour, but God has his day.'The President prayed for Ukrainian warriors, captives, medics, rescuers, teachers, and all those who work for Ukraine's victory. He expressed confidence that the stones that the enemy throws at Ukrainians will turn into a solid foundation for the future.The President urged:
'Let the day of life come. The day of peace. The day of Ukraine. A day lasting a century.'
The situation at the front was described by Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi. According to him, as of Easter morning, there were 59 shellings and five assaults by Russian units in various directions of the frontline. Combat clashes and attacks using drones were also recorded.The President confirmed that the proposal to extend the ceasefire for 30 days remains in effect, but Russia must fully comply with the ceasefire conditions. Ukraine will act according to the situation. Overall, the Russian army is trying to create the impression of a ceasefire but continues to conduct separate attacks and inflict losses on Ukraine.Read also
