Dismissal of the lawsuit regarding Governor Greg Abbott's comment
Congresswoman Jasmin Crockett, a representative of the Democratic Party from Texas, refused to apologize for her comment about Governor Greg Abbott, who is in a wheelchair and is often referred to as 'Governor Hot Wheels'. This happened on Wednesday.
Crockett repeatedly refused during an interview with FOX Business to apologize, then she began to tire and ended the conversation. Last week, the legislator had already released a statement regarding her comment, which contained no apology.
'I published a statement. Why should I apologize when I have a statement? My statement was clear,' Crockett replied when asked about it.
'Well, but you did not apologize for calling him 'Governor Hot Wheels', do you not understand that this is offensive to people?' asked FOX Business reporter Hilary Vaughn.

'I don’t understand how many times you want me to repeat that,' Crockett responded.
'Okay. But why don't you apologize?' - Vaughn asked.
'I published a statement,' Crockett repeated.

'That was not in the statement,' Vaughn countered. 'Don't you feel bad for making fun of a person in a wheelchair?'
'Okay, I’m done here,' Crockett said and walked away. 'I’m done. I’m finished with this.'
Crockett cracked jokes at a human rights charity event in Los Angeles about Abbott, whose legs were paralyzed in an accident in 1984.
'We are here in the hot streets of Texas, sweet. You know, we have the Governor Hot Wheels over there, let's go! And the only hot thing about him is that he is a hot mess, sweet!' she said laughing.
Crockett released a statement on social media denying that her comment referred to Abbott's paralysis.
'I was not thinking about the governor's condition - I was thinking about the mode of transportation he uses to transport migrants to communities led by black mayors and deliberately stirs up tension and fear among the most vulnerable. The literal next sentence I said was that he is a 'hot mess', and I was referring to his terrible policies. In no way did I mention or change his condition,' she wrote.
