WBC recognized Usyk as the best boxer of 2024.

Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk has been recognized as the best athlete of 2024. Members of the World Boxing Council (WBC) are impressed by Usyk's achievements in heavyweight and his victories throughout this year.
On May 18, 2024, Usyk became the first undisputed world champion in the heavyweight division in the last 25 years, defeating British boxer Tyson Fury. This achievement is even more remarkable considering that the last undisputed champion in this weight class was determined in 1999.
December 2024 brought a rematch between Usyk and Fury, where the Ukrainian boxer once again confirmed his superiority and successfully defended his WBC heavyweight title. This victory further underscored his status as a leader in world boxing.
The WBC particularly noted Usyk's skill on the international stage and his contribution to the development of world boxing. They consider him one of the greatest boxers of his generation.
