The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky approved the decision of the National Security and Defense Council regarding the imposition of sanctions against some Ukrainians and Russians. The list of sanctioned individuals includes former advisor to the President's Office Oleksiy Arestovych and blogger Myroslav Oleshko. The sanctions also involve political scientists, bloggers, propagandists, and former officials. The execution of the NSDC decision is entrusted to the Secretary of the Council.

On May 1, an armed attack was carried out on volunteer and activist Serhiy Sternenko. The attacker was promptly detained. Video shows her waiting for Sternenko near a building and then injuring him with a gunshot. The Security Service prevented the assassination of the activist. Sternenko was operated on, and his condition is now satisfactory.

US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and his deputy Alex Wong announced their resignation. Waltz became the subject of scrutiny after the disclosure of a chat in the Signal messenger, where he discussed the possibility of a military strike on targets in Yemen with senior officials.
