The border guards saved a man who was trying to flee to Slovakia. He was found exhausted and hypothermic, reported the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
The man was attempting to escape to Slovakia - following the instructions of "smugglers" from social networks, to whom he paid $2000. But they only pointed him in the direction of movement. Naturally, quite quickly in the forested mountains, he lost his bearings and got lost. After spending a whole night in the rain, frozen, hungry, and frightened by the sounds of wild animals, he called the SBGS hotline and asked to be rescued.
The border guards found the man exhausted and hypothermic. They took him to the unit, warmed him up, and fed him. The offender awaits trial for an attempt of illegal border crossing.
Let us remind you that the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported a decrease in the number of attempts to illegally cross the border. Compared to previous years, the statistics indicate a positive trend, highlighting an improvement in the border situation.
