Lockheed Martin has received a contract for the production of HIMARS artillery rocket systems

The Lockheed Martin Company has received a contract from the U.S. Army worth $742,179,564 for the production of additional High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS). This news was announced in the daily contract announcements by the Department of Defense.

This contract reflects the Army's efforts to develop its long-range precision strike capabilities in response to global security challenges. Lockheed Martin already has extensive experience in manufacturing this combat system, therefore it was awarded a fixed-price contract, and no other bids were submitted.

'HIMARS is a lightweight, mobile rocket system designed to deliver precision strikes at long ranges with various munitions,' reports Bulgarian Military.

This high-mobility artillery rocket system strikes with various munitions, such as the multiple launch rocket system and tactical missile systems that have long ranges. HIMARS plays a crucial role in resolving conflicts, as evidenced by its successful use in Ukraine against Russian forces.

This system also attracts significant interest from U.S. allies, such as Poland, Australia, and Estonia, who have already expressed a desire to acquire this equipment. This indicates the reliability and effectiveness of HIMARS, which significantly enhances the defense capabilities of the U.S. partner countries.

On May 8, 2025, Lockheed Martin announced the delivery of six HIMARS launchers to Estonia, which is an important step in strengthening security in the Baltic region.
