U.S. President Donald Trump announced that a 25% tariff will be imposed on all steel and aluminum imports into the country. He also noted that additional tariffs will be set on other goods. The President shared this information with reporters during a campaign trip on his presidential plane.
'Any steel coming into the United States will be taxed at a 25% tariff.' When asked about aluminum, Trump confirmed that this also applies to aluminum.
President Trump stated that 'reciprocal tariffs' will soon be established. According to him, the U.S. will impose tariffs on imported goods from those countries that impose tariffs on American goods.
'If they impose a 130% tariff on our goods and we do not respond with tariffs on their goods, that will not be without consequences,' said the U.S. President.
