The Lviv City State Food Service conducted an inspection of the warehouse premises of 'NESTLE UKRAINE' after receiving reports of the detection of the poisonous ochratoxin A in baby food imported from Finland.As a result of state control, it was found that the contaminated product - 'Vegetable-Meat Puree Gerber with Pieces 'Italian Lunch' for children aged 10 months' had already been supplied to the Ukrainian market. Two batches of this product with specific expiration dates were recognized as dangerous.The Main Department of the State Food Service in the Lviv region, according to the legislation, decided to recall and withdraw this product from circulation for further destruction.The contamination was detected thanks to the rapid alert system RASFF. The manufacturer of the dangerous baby food is the Finnish company Suomen Nestle Oy, and the recipient in Ukraine is LLC 'NESTLE UKRAINE'.This information indicates the need to strengthen the control over the quality of products entering the market. Inspections are an important step in ensuring consumer safety, especially for children.
