Yuriy Rybchynskyi – 80: the path of a poet who created golden hits of Ukrainian pop music.

Today, May 22, People's Artist and Hero of Ukraine Yuriy Rybchynskyi celebrates his 80th birthday. He is one of the creators of Ukrainian pop songs. A journalist from the portal «Glavkom» recalls the main events in the life and work of this artist.

Biography of Rybchynskyi

Yuriy Rybchynskyi was born on May 22, 1945, in Kyiv, in Podil. In the eighth grade, he showed an interest in literature and poetry, which surprised his parents. After finishing school, he entered the philological faculty of Kyiv University and began writing song lyrics. In 1967, he created his first song together with composer Igor Poklad.

In 1971, Rybchynskyi began collaborating with composer Volodymyr Ivasyuk, with whom he created several popular compositions. Later, he worked with numerous composers and performers, creating over 150 songs that were sung by such famous artists as Nina Matviyenko, Sofia Rotaru, and others.

Personal life of Rybchynskyi

In 1969, Yuriy Rybchynskyi married Oleksandra, who had previously been a rhythmic gymnastics coach. They had a son, Yevhen. He currently has four grandchildren.

What pension does Rybchynskyi receive

Yuriy Rybchynskyi has previously shared information about his pension and income from music. He noted that the amount of his pension was approximately 5 thousand UAH, but due to fluctuations in the dollar exchange rate, it decreased. He also said that he receives royalties from his compositions, but due to copyright issues, he does not receive the proper compensation.
